The hacker group Anonymous is promising that Vic Toews “will be exposed for the hypocrite” he is.
In a video posted Friday, the group demanded that Toews scrap the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act and step down as Safety Minister.
“We know all about you Mr. Toews,” the group said in a computer-generated voice over. “And during operation White North we will release what we have unless you scrap this bill.”The original video was viewed more than 15,000 time before the YouTube account was deleted Sunday evening. (The video has been re-posted by a different user)
longer video, also attributed to Anonymous, has since appeared warning that the group “will not allow a politician who allows his citizens no secrets to have any secrets of his own.”
The video includes a link to re-posted tweets from the Vikileaks30 account, which posted information about Toews — purportedly from court documents and other sources — for several days before shutting down Friday.
Toews angered many observers when he said opponents of Bill C-30 were friends of child pornographers. Opposition to the bill became the most tweeted about subject in Canada Thursday, and among some of the top trending subjects around the world.

The RCMP is investigating “serious threats” against Toews and his family have received during reaction to the bill.
“Threatening communications have been directed at the minister,” Toews’ spokesman Mike Patton said Sunday. “These incidents have been reported to the proper authorities.”
Anonymous is a loosely organized group of hackers that has taken credit for a variety of operations around the world. Recently, theygrabbed headlines when they published a recording of a confidential call between FBI agents and London detectives in which the law-enforcement agents discuss action they are taking against hacking.
